Flowers For My Friends, a group exhibition consisting of ceramicist Jake Boggs and three painters, Dae Hee Lee, Nick Schleicher, and Kalani Largusa; celebrating mark making through the lens of abstraction and nature.

The exhibition addresses distinct and separate outcomes of mark making by bringing together the works of four artists with shared histories; Largusa (Hawaiʻi, USA), Lee (Seoul, Korea) and Schleicher (St. Louis, USA) shared studios and many conversations revolving around the possibilities of mark making, during and after their transitions from representational to an abstract painting education at the School of Art Institute of Chicago [SAIC]. Meanwhile, Largusa and Boggs (Kentucky, USA) continued those conversations as they explored the relationship between mark making, presence/absence, and ontology while later attending the MFA program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

These shared ideas and varied outcomes exemplify, at its heart, the potential and beauty of art as it continually brings minds together, through its examination of our own humanity, for growth, exchange and comradery through discourse.
