Analog Sunshine Recorders

December 1 - 20, 2018

This month Oʻahu collective Analog Sunshine Recorders is taking up residence at Aupuni Space, turning the gallery and itʻs common areas into a working Black and White darkroom. Beginning December 1st, all the photographs displayed in the exhibition will be printed on site. Proceeds from print sales will be put back into the collective to recoup the cost of supplies and fund future endeavors.

Working collectively since 2009, ASR has made shooting trips to Japan, New Zealand, and the west coast of the continental U.S. The group began renting hotel rooms in Waikiki as an easy place to set up a darkroom and conduct a marathon print sessions (hotel room bathrooms rarely have windows). In that spirit, weʻre excited to be a part of their process, and give them space to make work collectively over the next month.
