REBECCA MARIA GOLDSCHMIDT
CATALINA AFRICA ESPINOSA
Tropic Zine Issue 2 seeks to decolonize, deconstruct, and reimagine the Filipinx diaspora by posing a series of questions about what it means to identify as, and to be, a contemporary citizen in an age of movement and dispersion. Rather than speaking to national identity, the editorials present complex, multi-generational stories of place. This exhibition incorporates and expands upon the editorial content of Issue 2, with a curatorial focus on experiential and performative works by Hawaii-based artists. For the duration of the opening, ride TheNightBus with e-nico, anon, and frntbznzz, shop new shirts and merch from Myka Arnado, Jourdan Simmonds, and more, get ready with gentofish, and, of course, take your first look at the print issue itself. Tropic Issue 2 will be on exhibit from June 8 - 26.
